Mammootty, whose real name is Muhammad Kutty Ismail Paniparambil, is an Indian film actor and producer who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. He is considered one of the finest actors in Indian cinema and has won several awards for his performances. Mammootty was born on September 7, 1951, in Kerala, India. He made his acting debut in 1971 with the film "Anubhavangal Paalichakal" and went on to become one of the most successful actors in the Malayalam film industry. Throughout his career, Mammootty has acted in over 400 films, spanning multiple languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and English. He is known for his versatility as an actor and has played a wide range of roles, from dramatic to comedic. Some of Mammootty's notable films include "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha," "Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar," "Mathilukal," "Munnariyippu," and "The Great Father." He has won several awards for his performances, including three National Film Awards, seven Kerala State Film Awards, and several Filmfare Awards. In addition to his acting career, Mammootty has also produced several films under his production company, Playhouse Motion Pictures. He is involved in philanthropic work and has established the Mammootty Charitable Trust to help the underprivileged. Mammootty is a well-respected figure in the Indian film industry and has been awarded several honors, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, two of the highest civilian honors given by the Indian government.
